Hit Me Good

Have you ever hoped for certain words from certain people?   Wished and dreamed of someone saying something to you that changes your life?

Or have you ever sobbed over, sighed over, or dreaded the sound of certain words spoke by people you wished you had never heard those words from?

And the most incredible words….words you didn’t expect.  Words you weren’t looking for.  Words that were said to you.  Given to you.   And gave you encouragement, or appreciation, or value that you had not expected.

Words run through me like blood.

Like a musician who is constantly hearing a rhythm.   A beat.  A melody.   An engineer who is forever studying the angles and arches of everything they see.  The mathematician who sees solutions to everything with numbers.   For me it’s words.  I hear them. I play with them in my thoughts.  I write them just to form them, with no intention of creating anything with them.  I just absorb them and expel them.

I had an eventful day yesterday.   It started well.  And it ended well.

Not expecting it.  Not looking for it.  Not knowing it was coming.

Someone gave me four words.

Four words.

This beautiful person had no idea how these words would hit me.  And hit me good.

She said-

“You’re A Life Changer”.

She has no idea how those words are pounding through me now.

Pounding.

Words change moments.

And lives.

    • I was stunned Paulette. I sometimes think I write too much about ‘me’. But then again….it is my chattering about my life. And I find that the more I have looked for wonderful moments, the more they are in abundance. Positive begets positive? And I was blown away by the words, for sure.

  1. “Life Changer” would most definitely be your label, if ever you had to choose only one. I feel much the same way about words– that’s all I feel we can truly ask of ourselves or others or the world sometimes.

    • That’s awfully kind of you Aussa. 🙂 It’s one of those things you just don’t expect to hear from someone, anyone. And for it to be said with such love and kindness felt so good. And it is kind of amazing when we stop and think about what we can give someone that they can keep, quite literally, forever. Our words, our expressions, our interactions. 🙂

  2. Colleen, This has played true to me several times since I started my blog. I am sure that those 4 words were not the 1st or only time you have heard such a profound measure of you or your day or your blog. At least I sure hope not. You have that innate ability to reach in and expose things that have that potential. Smiling, sometimes folks see it and point it out. Take care, my friend. Bill

    • Bill I will say, I have been EXTREMELY lucky in having good, honest and positive people comment back and forth with me. Yourself included of course. I am amazed at the goodness and generosity of the human interaction. I am still amazed though at some comments. The surprise of them maybe? Or the power behind the words. Like this comment of yours. I will be able to take this with me. Every where. And use it when ever I need a kind thought.

  3. So true, words can change everything – somebody was happy over have met you … a life-changer, and I believe you are … but what a wonderful word really.
You have turned things around for another person, for the better … you’re an everyday hero. Beautiful post and so touching.

    • Viveka, you are too kind to me. Her words meant so much to me. But I am no kinder than you, or any of the others who share their experiences here with us. I just had a very kind lady tell me so. I think we dont do that often enough….and I sure appreciated her doing so. 🙂 But I adore you for thinking such wonderful things about me. 🙂
