Long before the movie.

Were the Christmas cookies

And plucked

From their hidden

Deep within the freezer.

Frozen delights

Found only at Christmas.

And never as good

Once they found the light of day

Sitting thawed upon a plate

For everyone to enjoy.

It was tradition!  Not stealing!

  2. Elisa says:

wonder if the smart persons made those extra ones in the freezer cause they knew those were the ones that would get eaten and put the real saved ones somewhere else?

I’ve never frozen my cookies. Didn’t even know we could do that. Regardless, now I’m craving cookies. 🙂

I’ll freeze Thin Mints if I buy them from the Girl Scouts. Other than that, the others never defrost the way they should.

  5. Frozen cookies are the best.
Hidden Christmas cookies are Joy to the World! Secretly diving into the freezer and removing a few is Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. Biting into the first one in your fist is Angels we have Heard on High. Sigh. I remember those day.

    Merry Christmas.

  6. Yep, they are good when they’re frozen. You eat them slowly and really enjoy them. (BTW, there was a time before the movie?? I didn’t know that!!)

  7. Aww yes, tradition! Thanks for the warm smile you put on my face. 🙂

  8. Sounds like a yummy tradition!

My Dad did that to my grandmother one year (she lived with us). Was she ever mad! She had no cookies for Christmas because she didn’t know he’d been raiding the freezer for several months.

I learned from that – make two batches. One to eat and one to freeze.

    • Well we learned, because I know I was NOT the only one, to shake the boxes up a bit, make it look like none were taken. Because you know out of 8 kids, how ever many of us were taking them….surely none appeared to be gone. Right? 😉

Oh, Colleen, you know I had a cookie caper escapade where my friend, Sandy and I would go into my friend’s mother’s deep freezer and take up scoops, with large spoons of Christmas cookie batter. we loved the pecan sandies batter and the chocolate chip dough that was in her freezer. This post was about the frozen cookies already made, but this made me go back in time to when we would ‘steal’ tablespoons of Sandy’s mom’s batter! ha ha!
