I see nothing wrong with denim and bike shorts. Though if the occasion does not allow…I hate those kinds of occasions sometimes.
You are not inept. I think we have all been there in different ways. I still struggle at times with cooking or math. To each her own though we all shine in our own way, or as Bull Nye says, we can learn something from someone. I know I could not pull off a distance ride… but maybe a hike.
Besides I like denim and it is back in style. I say rock the denim with dress slacks then if shorts are no bueno for the event.
I like it Niaaeryn. I will shine forth in my jeans and bike shorts. And just to mess with everyone, I usually wear bike shorts under all my clothes because I come home and ride the bike or use the treadmill anyway! 🙂
I’m with Beth, find yourself something you are comfortable in. I don’t have any really dressy outfits, but I have quite a few smart casual as we call them. Something you can dress up or down. I do feel your pain though, I loathe clothes shopping…go on give it a try, if not don the D or BS. 😊
I think I will from here on out, go with “comfortable” because I’m learning that no one really cares. And if they do care, maybe they don’t know me well enough to expect me to have a clue what to do! 🙂
I know how you feel. Only something important to family or to me can make me “dress up,” and I found a great solution to the problem. I wear funky leggings under a dress. The leggings feel like exercise pants and the dress takes care of the “dress up” part. Win-win. 🙂
I have no fashion sense either, and am now at a point in life where I don’t worry about it. You should see the ridiculous things I pair together (thus giving my husband a big laugh; he thinks I’m taking lessons from our 6-year-old granddaughter). As for the “dress” part, I found one that is more like a long shirt than a dress. I’m not a dressy, girly-girl type so this works for me. And flat shoes (something like ballet slippers although if I can get away with fancy sneakers, I do it).
I saw this headline and immediately thought “why is Colleen writing about the Cleveland Browns?” Anyway, I’m sure you were able to find something in which you look lovely! 🙂
Just think how much better you look in bike shorts and denim than most folks, MBC. The world has a way to even things out. Besides, I have a feeling, you look better to-the-nines than you think, and they look better to-the-sixes than they think. Human nature! ❤
Can’t you go in denimum and bike short? Maybe you could put a skirt over your bike shorts and still wear a denimum top. Start a new fashion. LOL!

Oh Priceless, as a kid I used to wear shorts under my uniform every day. I despise dressy/skirty things. 🙂 So I shall not wear them!!! 😉

I don’t blame you, I wouldn’t wear them either.

Oh geez. I forgot about those. Been MANY a year since I wore one of those!

Bike shorts and a bow tie. I say that’s all you need.

PERFECT! Though I will wear a shirt. Large. Baggy and comfortable. And the bow tie.

As long as you have the bow tie, I think it will be fine.

I get the leggings (very akin to bike tights)….I just can’t do the ‘dress’ part.
The other, as big, issue…. I have NO sense of design, fashion, what looks good.
