Good point Eric. Our lens are pretty clear right now. We have seen the revitalization, and we have toured the devastation. The city is alive and beautiful. And you can see efforts every where, even in small measures, of people with pride.
Thank you Paul. There is still a lot of devastation and decay that just hasn’t been reclaimed yet. But we found it very much alive. And very welcoming.
Heard so much about Detroit, but its still a hazy cloud of shiny city in my mind! I love the perspective of the drawing, though. Happy to contemplate, it seems 🙂
Humanity (in fact, Life) is amazing in how it pushes through despite the destruction and decay. We see it on the plants growing on the ruins of ancient castles, and in the way humans join together to build lives again, and again, and again. That is beautiful.
My Dad’s bucket list included going with my brothers to an Indians game on the Detroit Tigers turf. They had a great time! Indians lost but they said everyone was nice and friendly despite their Cleband gear on in restaurant! 🙂
Are you visiting Beth in Ann Arbor soon? 🙂
We’ve had nothing but wonderful experiences here Robin.
And no, I wish I was meeting Beth! But I am with a friend and the trip was planned by her and with a specific agenda. But I am planning on coming back here!!!
I am happy Detroit recognizes a couple of nice people and are making sure you are comfortable and well received! 🙂 🙂
Can you believe Cleveland was once considered a mess, too? Maybe most areas are facing revitalization, Colleen.
Cleveland was our first city hike. We’ve been doing this a few years now. We pick a city, and do a metro park type hike one day and a city hike the next. We LOVED Cleveland so much! Everything else has to compare to it. 🙂
Are you traveling?

Even stressed, cities can be and are beautiful. It’s about the lens through which we view. 🙂

It’s been 30 years since I’ve been to Detroit. Sounds like they’ve cleaned it up a lot. Enjoy!

Interesting perspective. You should send it to their Chamber of Commerce. They would like the boost!
