Nothing makes me feel more like a phony adult
Than ordering coffee.
Can’t explain it.
It just is.
I would feel the same way ordering coffee, mostly because I drink tea. :o)
I was NOT a coffee drinker until the age of 42. I think it’s part of why I still feel like I’m breaking rules if I drink coffee. 😉
I feel the same way! I have a doctorate level degree and somehow standing in front of a barista makes me feel like the world’s greatest dunce. Gah!
Right? I feel like a kid playing grownup as it is when I drink coffee at home. But go out? I’m waiting to get busted. 😉

Oh good gosh. Reminds me of when I went to SB and ordered an iced cappuccino…and being told, “we don’t dont do those…we do frappucinos”. Snooty much? Grr. You made me laugh at the memory.
Hahahahahahaha, I laughed at “snooty much”. There is a certain chain that has a certain location that I go in and say “medium” or “large” and they always correct me with ‘their’ term. 😉
It’s fun. In fairness, the employees may have been given a script. The first one didn’t follow it. Just for S&G, I did it again at another location. They explained that the frozen making machines didn’t work well after the coffee had been heated and frothed. Still makes me laugh though as does your ordering medium or large. It sounds like I’m bagging on a particular company, I’m not. I wondered where “tall” fit into the equation of venti and grande…especially when tall means small…or it used to.
I don’t mean to bag on the company either. It’s more about ‘me’ not being able to speak their language. Though, if I went there more often I would make it a point to do so. It’s just not my favorite coffee place to go to. 😉
ha! you should have a license to do this )
I would probably not pass the test!
Because you are a tea drinker! LOL!
Priceless I didn’t drink coffee until I was 42!!! 🙂 I think you’re right, until then it was ONLY tea. 🙂
LOL! I think I started drinking coffee when I was about 8-10 years old. haha!
Priceless I ALWAYS loved the smell of it when I made it for my parents. I would sneak drinks, convinced if I loved the smell so much, I would love the taste. Couldn’t stand the taste. Then when I was 42 I just started drinking it.
I too love the smell of coffee brewing! My grandmother would give me a cup of coffee (because I begged for it) and put in canned milk and sugar and it tasted so good!!
I wish I had tried coffee like that as a child. But NOW I can. 🙂
Yes! I don’t use sugar in mine anymore but I do use creamer.
Creamer and sweetener. And I make my own iced coffee so I had a flavor to that, most times.
I have never had an iced coffee.
Oh! I hope you try one 🙂
I will one day!!
Let me know if you like it 🙂
Haha – that’s good! I almost never drink coffee – I’m a tea drinker. I wouldn’t know how to behave in a Starbuck’s!
I get jittery thinking of going there. Fortunately it’s not my cup of tea. Hahahahaha. 🙂
That’s good! 😄
That’s probably why I don’t drink it.
I never used to, but my favorite is what I make at home.
I don’t do specialty coffee but I’m sure I’d feel like a country mouse in the wrong city. 🙂
Sounds like there are quite a few of us Tess. 🙂
Good to know I’m not alone. Come on over to my house and I’ll make a good ordinary coffee. Maybe find some treats in the freezer too, though i don’t eat sweets. Coffee’s treat enough for me.
THAT sounds like a fabulous invitation Tess. 🙂
Anytime. The door is always open. Well, actually closed but not locked. Can’t let the cats escape. 😉
That’s good thinking on your part Tess. 😉 And thank you.
Yes, I feel like such a rebel when I order “medium coffee-black”. Great reactions.
Hahahahahahahaa! I love that!
If I want a coffee, i just want a coffee. I do not understand, nor do I wish to understand, all of the hyped, pretentious, belittling, rubbish that they keep inventing. Coffee great, turkish coffee great, anything else – go away!!!!!!
I do like iced coffee though Peter. I hope that isn’t too rubbishy. 😉
I’ll allow iced coffee. I like it too!
You’re a good man Peter! 🙂 Iced coffee is not appreciated by everyone!
I loved coffee back as a child, tea was good with milk and sugar, cocoa with marshmallows. My parents allowed us to pour coffee over ice cream and this was yummy! I guess I never stopped loving it, drink like my Mom still does, 3-4 cups a day! Only hers is black.
I can’t wait to try pouring coffee over ice cream Robin!!!
I kind of feel like a kid when I order coffee because I like the sweetest, frothiest stuff I can get. I’m a coffee wuss, especially since my parents and siblings always drink black. I don’t know how we’re related.
I “have” drunk/drank (?) had black coffee, WITH tons of sweetener. But, I believe there is room for us all. I will be in your group. Black is okay. The way we drink it is adventurous. As “if” we need to explain ourselves. 😉
I have the utmost respect for black coffee drinkers. They are real adults. But I don’t mind being a kid. 🙂
I’m with you 🙂
