I picked it up when I was younger.
And carried it a very long time.
It never made me stronger.
Though the weight of it grew heavier.
I picked it up when I was younger.
And carried it a very long time.
It never made me stronger.
Though the weight of it grew heavier.
I picked it up when I was younger.
And carried it a very long time.
It never made me stronger.
Though the weight of it grew heavier.
I picked it up when I was younger.
And carried it a very long time.
It never made me stronger.
Though the weight of it grew heavier.
I picked it up when I was younger.
And carried it a very long time.
It never made me stronger.
Though the weight of it grew heavier.
I picked it up when I was younger.
And carried it a very long time.
It never made me stronger.
Though the weight of it grew heavier.
Imagine the contradiction.
And the irony.
Of how my strength increased.
When I no longer carried the weights.
But knowing this,
Doesn’t stop me from picking it back up again.
Leave it behind.
okay okay okay! fine. I am going to put it down.

I will try to put it down and not pick it back up….which for me can be a difficult task. Thanks for the gentle reminder and encouragement. 🙂

You’re welcome Robin. Yes, you would think after taking so long to learn it’s not ‘ours’ to carry it would be easy to remember not to pick back up….

Those weights, and putting them down, have helped to make you into the treasure you are today, Colleen. Some who carry them become crushed and bitter by their weight, but some the strength and wisdom to set them down and replace them with empathy, compassion, and kindness instead. For your sake and for the world, I’m grateful you are one of the latter.

Your words are heartfelt, and our hearts listen to them. It is the pictures that really make them alive in a deep yet uncomplicated way. I admire that very much.

it will be a habit to pick it up, but drop it as soon as you think of it – it will soon become your new habit

Good advice Beth. When teaching martial arts I told students they needed to do something 3000 times before it became habit or reflexive. I need to remember that.

Leave it behind … yes this is a good advice.
But I think everyone carries his burden. Everyone as much as he needs to get ahead, as he needs it for the way he has chosen. And if it gets too much we’ll drop it ..:)

Love, love, love. Shedding that weight and picking it up again, only to let go. The cycle of life and oh how light we feel when we truly let go…
