Indeed, listening is a skill these days and children appreciate it and value it. I used to be the same, coming home, telling my day to my mum as a child. She was a great listener and will always remember those close times.
The first sentence pierced me deeply. It is a beautiful reminder of how we are intersecting in their inner spaces. And how precious when that can become a pleasant memory.
Thank you Infinite. I try to be aware that it is their choice to talk or not, and I don’t ever want to make them feel like I am intruding. But I want them to know I am interested. That they are worth listening to.
I love how you’ve flipped a perspective – often we talk TO our children instead of talking with them. I am so tickled and touched by your adorable people and thought-provoking proddings.
it is one of the most sacred experiences you can share

It really is. The things they say and ask always impress me.

The telling of a story, and the listening to of that story… are both a shared loving gift…

I hope my children remember that (dinner times especially) and my grands. I like them talking to me.
